Possible NCAA Changes on the Horizon

Most college students that watch any college sports know that the sport is most likely affiliated with the NCAA. What is the NCAA? It’s the National Collegiate Athletic Association. In recent weeks, there have been a few schools that are affiliated with NCAA that feel the athletic association needs to start a new division. They feel that the number of schools that deserve the NCAA branding have grown so much over the years that this new division would be created in order to make it fair for all schools involved. Being a college senior of NCAA-affiliated Husson College, I have witnessed the trials and tribulations of trying to get the NCAA to recognize us as an athletic organization that can uphold the organization’s high standards.

Although NCAA officials say that they are only in preliminary talks about starting a new division, I feel that it might take away the accomplishment of being named to the NCAA if another division is added. Usually, if an organization is in “preliminary talks” it means that a new division will happen eventually. That is my take.
