North Carolina and Duke ready to square off during "Rivalry Week"

Add yet another chapter to most all along Tobacco Road consider the greatest sports rivalry anywhere. Throw out the Red Sox/Yanks rivalry. Throw out Ohio State vs. Michigan in college football. This is the big time. Granted, I find myself in the middle of all three of these great sports rivalries being a Red Sox, Ohio State football and UNC basketball fan, but I can't help myself to check out all the hype every time these games pop up.

North Carolina is said to be without starting point guard Ty Lawson due to a sprained ancle suffered in an 11 point win over Florida State Sunday in Tallahassee.

Duke enters the match-up 7-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) competition with an overall record of 19-1, outscoring their opponents by JUST under 20 points. This, earning the Blue Devils a #2 national ranking in the USA Today/Coaches Poll.

UNC comes in with a 21-1 overall record and a 6-1 ACC record, losing their only game of the season, in conference to Maryland 82-80 on my birthday, January 19th. The Tar Heels host Duke Wednesday with a #3 national ranking.

Throw rankings and records aside for this matchup, just like always, because these two teams will fight and scrap for a crucial ACC and overall national win to set the pace with only a few games remaining before March Madness.
